Transparency & Traceability

Transparency and traceability are key to our business. We also provide full information on where the products come from, and the practices used in producing and/or processing the products. It is our belief that it is your right to know what exactly you are eating – as after all you are what you eat. If you would like any additional information to what you find on our site, please feel free to contact us and we will gladly assist.

Our continually expanding range of products aims to supply a comprehensive range of fresh produce, dairy, eggs, baked goods, meats and grocery items that are clean, unprocessed and nutritious. From pure chocolate sweetened with honey to succulent grass-fed boerewors flavoured with natural spices and sea salt, you can find it all right here. We also offer a range of natural, organic and environment-friendly household and personal care products.

Affordable Prices

Our business model is designed to keep prices to consumers reasonable while paying producers fair prices for their premium goods. It is our belief that high quality foods should be affordable to people and market forces should encourage more sustainable production methods.

Our History

Foodieness was started in February 2015 by Jessica Grobler in response to the demand she observed for more natural and organic food items in the Pretoria area. Jessica is a mother of two who lives on a small farm on the outskirts of Pretoria with her husband and children. During 2014 Jessica and her family started following the Weston A. Price foundation and later the GAPS diet in search of better health. They experienced phenomenal improvements in their health and well-being, with relief from conditions such as food allergies, asthma, eczema, ADD and even epilepsy. During this process Jessica started sourcing better quality food items in her area. She found that this was a laborious process that involved buying from a wide range of different sources at sometimes inconvenient times and places. Foodieness was born to make this quality of food seamlessly available in one place.

Jessica is a registered professional natural scientist in the areas of Ecology and Botany. She holds a Master’s degree from the University of Pretoria in Plant ecology and before becoming a mother worked in the public sector in biodiversity management and conservation. She has had a life-long passion for the earth and its natural systems and is passionate about their correct stewardship. She has a keen interest in pastured meat production, as it is the meeting point of her two passions – ecological sustainability and vibrant health. Good management of rangelands can both rehabilitate and restore the ecosystems they support and provide high-quality nutritious food to people. This results in healthy people and a healthy planet. It is Jessica’s belief that healthy ecosystems on all scales, from the ecosystem inside the human gut to the planet as a whole, are indeed the key to our future.

Since 2019 Carike de Oliveira has joined the Foodieness team and is currently running the day to day of the business. Carike started the organic lifestyle in 2011 when she saw the results of simply changing their family to raw milk and the benefits it held for their health. Healing their allergies
and respiratory issues in her daughter. Since then she has been an avid organic lifestyle supporter, who has her own vegetable garden and backyard chicken flock and loves cooking from scratch.

It is her belief that for the future, the best way to move forward is through sustainable farming, removal of processed junk and GMO'S from our diet, with a back to basics approach with what we consume: "Don't eat anything your grandmother wouldn't have recognised as food". For the sake of our own health and that of our planet.
